A group exercise in vulnerability, connection & human intimacy for these trying times. I am excited to try a brand new thing with you all. This is an offering I have been thinking about for a while now.
The inspiration initially stemmed from my time in New Orleans in 2019 when I was frequenting Dancing Grounds Studio (Cannot recommend enough). Movement was one of the main elements that helped me move through grief at that time. Not only did I reconnect with myself, but with the help of some of their instructors to those around me as well. It kind of saved me at that time.
This class is not a choreography class. It’s not even really a dance class. It is also not high intensity. I will lead us through guided meditations, stretching exercises, movement and intentional interaction with one another in a consensual, playful and gentle way. We will explore self sovereignty, energetic boundaries, grounding, and feel what it feels like to both protect our energy while also exploring bouncing it off of others. The goals are: to calm our nervous system, to build trust, to use our tools of boundaries but also expand our capacity for non-sexual human intimacy. I am asking that people come in with an open heart and mind. While this class will certainly have moments of reverence, I do not intend for us to take ourselves too seriously. We will definitely be laughing. This class is a first of it’s kind for me. So I am offering it as a sliding scale suggested donation and would love feedback at the end.
What to wear - Wear comfy clothes. We will be taking our shoes off in the space. What to bring- It is optional to bring a yoga mat. I would also bring a small hand towel. All are welcome. This space does require stairs to access. Location: Pitch Theatre 5300 4th Ave S 6:30-8 Sunday August 18th
